ZIP System Framing

Far sturdier than conventional roofing felt and house-wrap, ZIP System wall and roof sheathing combines a structural engineered wood panel and water-resistive barrier all in one.

The water-resistive barrier not only provides superior moisture protection during and after the building process, but it also creates an air-barrier which improves energy efficiency. The ZIP System is designed to promote superior energy efficiency, to save energy and money on costly fuel bills.

Installation with the ZIP System is faster because there are fewer steps and it eliminates the need for roof felt and house-wrapping forever. It also requires less rework caused by wear and tear during construction and is resistant to weather damage. A 30-year system warranty and 30-year panel warranty allow homeowners to have peace of mind knowing that their home is more water and air tight than homes built using typical felt and housewrap. Plus, we have increased the weather exposure guarantee during construction to 180 days versus the previous 120-day guarantee.

Wall Sheathing

What’s underneath your siding is just as important as the siding itself. Most exterior walls are built with wood panels and then covered with some type of water-resistive barrier such as housewrap. ZIP System wall, however, improves on this conventional construction. The ZIP System combines a wood panel and STORMEX water-resistive barrier all in one. The result is a water-resistant surface with nothing that can tear or blow off during construction. Between panels, water-resistant ZIP System tape is used to complete the system.

Benefits of ZIP System Wall

  • Durability – ZIP System panels with STORMEX water-resistive barrier and tape won’t blow off or tear like many housewrap products do during construction. ZIP System wall provides protection for your walls after your home is complete.
  • Energy Efficiency – ZIP System wall is a code recognized air retarder, which simply means that it helps control air infiltrating the wall system, helping control drafts and promoting energy efficiency.
  • Water Resistance for Walls – As a code recognized water-resistive barrier, ZIP System wall protects your walls from water that may pass through your wall coverings.
  • Proven Performance – Recognized by residential building codes, ZIP System wall has undergone and passed extensive performance testing for water resistance, water penetration and wind-driven rain.
  • Peace of Mind – Knowing it's backed by an exclusive limited 30-year system and panel warranty means you can count on a ZIP System wall to last. And, we have increased the weather exposure guarantee during construction to 180 days versus the previous 120-day guarantee.

Roof Sheathing

What’s underneath your shingles is just as important as the shingles themselves. Most roofs are built with wood panels and then covered with some type of moisture-resistant barrier such as roofing felt. ZIP System roof, however, improves on this conventional construction. The ZIP System combines a wood panel and Precipitek moisture barrier all in one so your roof system is inherently resistant to moisture. Between panels, water-resistant ZIP System tape is used to complete the system.

Benefits of a ZIP System Roof

  • Custom Look – ZIP System panels are full half-inch panels that are thick and strong contributing to a smooth roof line and allowing shingles to lay flat.
  • Water Resistance – ZIP System has passed the Wind Driven Rain Test, with results that surpass the strictest of standards set by Florida’s Dade and Broward counties. This means if shingles blow off, you are provided better leak protection than with standard roof felt.
  • Durability – ZIP System roof panels with built-in Precipitek moisture barrier and ZIP System tape create a reliable roof system. Unlike roof felt and other underlayments, the ZIP System can’t rip or blow off during construction, providing better protection for your roof.
  • Proven Performance – Recognized by residential building codes, ZIP System roof has undergone and passed extensive performance testing for water resistance, water penetration and wind-driven rain.
  • Peace of Mind – Knowing it’s backed by an exclusive limited 15-year system and 30-year panel warranty you can count on a ZIP System roof to last.

Tape

The ZIP tape was produced to match and combined the superior durability and performance with the rest of the ZIP System. ZIP tape is applied to all wall and roof joints effectively preventing most air or moisture from entering. It has been put through years of testing, most of which were in different climates, from extreme highs to extreme lows, and the ZIP tape withstood it all. It passed tests against UV lights, used to replicate the damage that can be caused by long exposure from sunlight, which would normally make tape deteriorate.

Stronger, safer and more energy efficient, the ZIP System makes your new Southland home a far better home.
